After establishing herself as a gifted creator: Dana Moden crashes with the new series | Israel today

"Aviram Katz" directed and starring the talented Moden appears to be a significant downfall and her worst project • Nir Wolff was disappointed with the founding mother of the priestess of romantic comedies, which in the detective drama genre failed to solve the mystery

Love is painful, we were taught by Dana Moden, who proved time and time again during her television career that she is a wizard at creating comedies/romantic dramas.

Professor of dangerous relationships.

From "Ananda" to "That's the way it is" Moden explored the "rom-com" genre and took it to areas that had not been done before in Israel.

It is not unreasonable to say that Modena is the founding mother of romantic comedies in Israel, a popular genre that is not thriving enough in our country.

So she knows how to write a successful love story.

But what happens when Dana Moden steps outside the box to produce a local detective drama?

The eight-episode drama "Aviram Katz", which premiered last night on Kan 11, follows a successful author of thrillers (Yehezkel Lazarov), who steals a story written by his neighbor and as a result becomes a suspect in the disappearance of a female doctor mentioned in his story.

This is a detective drama about a writing barrier, literary theft, an inflated ego and a mysterious mystery.

However, throughout the series there are no moments of tension, but mainly purposeless dialogues and a slow plot, supported by characters that are neither deep nor developed, as well as an appalling lack of credibility and multiple holes.

full of holes

In fact, the episodes of "Aviram Katz" are mostly based on a very annoying recurring motif - they are boring, not too much happens in them, but at the end of each of them there is a small twist that arouses curiosity about the sequel.

Then, more boredom until the next twist.

Since the writing is not good, all that holds this transparent series are the talented actors, who get more out of the characters than they have: Sasson Gabai, Shai Avivi, Gila Almagor, Joy Rieger, Yaniv Biton and others.

More is produced from the characters than what is in them.

It's a bit ironic that the plot of the series deals with a writer with a writing block who fails to recreate his great days, copies a story and gets into trouble.

Moden also does not recreate her great days, preferring to challenge herself with a work that is based on a book written by someone else ("to write like God", Asher Kravitz), and as a result she gets tangled up and crashes.

Because overall, this is the worst series Modan has done to date.

Don't tell Communications Minister Shlomo Karai, but "Aviram Katz" is an unbaked drama.

A waste of money and resources that could have been invested in some kind of unnecessary reform that will destroy the system and serve only the ruling party at the expense of the television market, the workers and the viewers.

Issue a message to the Minister of Communications

Kaan's great reality docu, "Starting From Scratch", returned last night for a second season.

The rules of the program are simple and not easy: for ten days, all their possessions are taken from the participants and they must get by with a life of minimalism.

The first season highlighted the personal struggles of the cast characters, while the new season focuses on the struggles of families who entered the experiment together.

The result is mesmerizing and addictive to watch.

Between the Soviet-disciplined Cooper family and the trophy shelf and the generic, sarcastic Levy family - the acting of the couple Sarah Gross and Tami Bezaleli stands out, as they strengthen their stunning relationship in their third year and fly over the photographed experience.

"Starting from scratch" laughs at materialism in the face and shakes the souls of the reality characters participating in the series, but does so with grace and wisdom.

By the way, maybe you should tell the Minister of Communications about this, because even in the docu-reality genre, the corporation makes great television.
