(ANSA) - BERLIN, JAN 23 - "Disco Boy" by newcomer Giacomo Abbruzzese is the only Italian in competition at the Berlin International Film Festival (February 16-26).
Artistic director Carlo Chatrian announced it today at a press conference in Berlin.
Co-produced by the Italian Dugong Films with protagonist Franz Rogowski (Undine, Freaks Out).
The film is a France/Italy/Belgium/Poland co-production and will be distributed by Lucky Red.
Shot between Europe and Africa, with an international cast and the soundtrack signed by the star of electronic music Vitalic, DISCO BOY marks the cinematic debut of Giacomo Abbruzzese.
Disco Boy instead tells the story of Alex, played by Franz Rogowski, a young man who joins the French Foreign Legion and tries to build a new life for himself.
Chatrian also announced the Italian "Le mura di Bergamo" in the Encounters category.
"The walls of Bergamo" tells the story of the Covid pandemic in the Lombard city, but also how the moments of the most dramatic crisis changed people's lives in the following months.
