A “chance story”
“It's a story of chance, centered on the tricks fate can play on you;
the story of a karmic bond that seems to exist between certain people, Cartier explained in a statement.
On one side, Rami Malek, on the other, Catherine Deneuve.
They meet on the Alexandre III bridge several times, like two disconcerted accomplices.
The actress appears there younger, in scenes that echo her cult films such as
The Umbrellas of Cherbourg
(1964) or
Place Vendôme
(1998).
Rami Malek thus meets the actress at different stages of her life, and immortalizes her, films her or draws her at each of their encounters.
For this commercial, Cartier wanted to bring together a legend of cinema and a new talent – an analogy of the new Tank Française, a revisited version of the famous watch launched for the first time in 1996.
