(ANSA) - TOKYO, JAN 23 - The Tokyo Stock Exchange starts the first session of the week on the rise, following the advance of the US stock market in anticipation of the start of the corporate quarterly season and with investors betting on a possible slowdown in the monetary tightening from part of the Federal Reserve.
At the opening, the Nikkei index marks an increase of 1.20% to 26,871.42, with a gain of 317 points.
In terms of currencies, the yen weakened to 129.30 against the dollar and 140.50 against the euro.
