What do they ask to enter Chile?

Since the end of September 2022, the border system has returned to normal as before the pandemic, but a series of

requirements

related to the prevention of the transmission of Covid-19 must be met.

The only requirement that Chile requires is to

present the vaccination card against Covid-19

, with the complete scheme.

The negative PCR is no longer being requested, as a result of the post-pandemic relaxations, except in the case of not having the vaccines.

For those

over 18 years of age

, both doses are requested (or test carried out 48 hours in advance).

For minors it is not a requirement to have the coronavirus vaccines.

Tourists from Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Uruguay, Paraguay and Peru can enter with their identity cards, the presentation of a passport is not required.

A common complaint from travelers from Argentina to Chile is the

delay in customs procedures

, especially when entering the Chilean town of Los Andes.

The waits at Los Libertadores Customs reached between 4 and 7 hours from the end of the year and until the fortnightly replacement.

According to officials from the Border Coordination in the Mendoza mountain range, to expedite the crossing, the number of booths for travelers to Chile was increased from four to ten, which allowed the average wait at the Libertadores Customs to be reduced to four hours.
