The return of
Article 1 in the Democratic Party
is now a done deal.
The
National Directorate
of the political force led by
Roberto Speranza
approves the report in which phase 2 of the Nazarene is viewed favorably, expressing "a positive assessment of the contents of the
Manifesto for the New Democratic Party
" presented to the Assembly on Saturday.
And it is underlined that in this way "the foundations are laid for the construction of a serious alternative to the right" in Italy.
The "members of Art.1" are therefore invited "to actively participate in the congress phase, starting from the vote in the circles, by signing the commitment to join the
New Democratic Party by 31 January
in 2023, as required by the approved Congressional Rules".
Despite the official reports and notes, the recomposition between the
Democratic Party and the 'cousins' of Art.1
does not appear to be an easy transition.
At least judging by the comments of Dem exponents, such as
Enrico Borghi
, who does not want to hear of a name change to "justify" the return of the secessionists.
"The thesis according to which the Democratic Party should dissolve or change its name to allow Article 1 to re-enter the Democratic Party is as if Puerto Rico sets as a condition for entering the US that they change their name", jokes the parliamentarian who recalls historical precedents such as that of the Pdup "who rejoined the PCI without however demanding abjurations".
Apart from the change or not of the name, on which controversy and jokes continue to rage on social media also for the acronym that would derive from it (Pdl as the former center-right party or Padel as the game that rages between young and old) are the vetoes placed on some leading figures such as
Massimo D'Alema
who poison the climate even more.
As demonstrated by the clarification that the two parties are forced to make: "In the construction of the constituent path that led to the approval of the Manifesto of the New Pd never between
Enrico Letta
and
Roberto Speranza
reference was made to individual personalities and even less to Massimo D'Alema". The person concerned smiles and does not give in to provocations: "I have been retired for 7 years, I do not participate in the debate", he replies to those who ask him to reply.
It is difficult to attempt to erase history without leaving after-effects to complicate a bitter but "politically necessary" reconciliation.
So much "necessary" that the candidate Stefano Bonaccini found himself forced to remark: "I care little that managers and former managers return, I am interested in recovering those 7 million voters that we have lost along the way".
While the other candidate,
Elly Schlein
, does not hesitate to talk about "family reunification".
Instead, you look favorably on the change of name
Andrea Orlando
who, in addition to confirming "consonance" with Schlein, says that "rebuilding the party with a name, program and symbols is a bet worth making".
Meanwhile,
Bonaccini, Schlein, Gianni Cuperlo and Paola De Micheli
, after the confrontation on TV with Lucia Annunziata, will be around Italy and will meet with the women of the party at the Nazareno to talk about each other and take stock of the programs.
