The market is flooded with a variety of preparations, technologies and magical suggestions for glowing and youthful facial skin • So how often is it recommended to use the preparation, and which treatment involves anesthesia in the operating room? • Instructions

Winter is here (well, sort of), the sky is covered with layers of clouds, and the weather brings with it sweltering temperatures and raises the sun's rays.

All these things make winter an ideal time to renew the skin of the face, and to treat the sun spots we accumulated in the summer.

Of course we mean peeling.

• Did you think Botox was excessive?

The cosmetic treatments you don't know

• Perfume sprays on the neck?

This is the critical mistake you are making

• Creams and skincare routine?

Subliminal managed to surprise us

In the winter season, there is an increase of nearly 60% in the demand for peeling treatments at different peeling levels, based on different types of materials and technologies.

In the summer, on the other hand, the demand is only about 15% of all treatments.

So what exactly is peeling?

Paula Belik Dayan, an expert in advanced cosmetics and natural medicine, explains: "The peeling is actually a preparation that peels off the upper layers of the skin, and encourages the growth of new, taut skin. The peeling essentially creates a controlled process that causes the cells to regenerate. The important emphasis in this type of treatment is that you should not be exposed to the sun, because that sensitive layers of the facial skin are exposed, damage may occur and the effectiveness of the treatment decreases."

"The peeling action removes the layers of dirt from the surface, lightens spots and wrinkles, and the resulting look is radiant and tense. The low temperatures that do not cause sweating also help the process, and speed up the recovery phase," she adds.

The natural exfoliation basically removes dead skin cells that have finished their job, making the skin look tired.

It also removes the outer layer of age spots and sun spots, allowing skin renewal.

To integrate it into the care routine, it is recommended to use it instead of the face soap, at the stage of cleansing the skin before applying moisture.

What is the difference between natural peeling and chemical peeling?

Today there are three main types of peeling on the market: natural peeling, chemical peeling and peeling using devices.

The natural peeling mainly refers to preparations that can be used at home, and includes fine grains that remove the upper layers of the skin, or active acids that gently peel the outer layer of the skin.

Another type is chemical peeling, which is considered particularly aggressive, and is only done by professionals.

There are three levels of chemical peeling - light, medium and deep.

The light chemical peeling is done by qualified professionals (such as beauticians) using chemical solutions that cause a slight burn on the skin, after a few days it peels off and smooth and flexible skin is obtained.

In medium chemical peeling, chemical solutions are used at a higher concentration, and it reaches the second layer of the skin - the dermis, causing a more aggressive peeling of the face.

Deep chemical peeling is a procedure done in an operating room only, and the chemical solutions are inserted into the deep dermis layer, creating a second degree burn.

The procedure is done under local anesthesia, and recovery from it takes several months.

The chemical peeling is mainly suitable for those who suffer from deep scars or severe pigmentation, and a doctor should be consulted before the treatment.

The third type is also the newest - peeling using technological devices.

Today there are peeling treatments on the market using laser or radio waves, and the depth of the peeling can be determined.

Deep peeling using a laser is also done in an operating room under general or local anesthesia.

In the lower categories, the treatment can also be obtained at the authorized cosmetic salons.

We contacted Dr. Ronen Gelsinger, an expert in plastic medicine, who will explain the procedure. "Chemical peeling is a deep peeling that happens under supervision in operating rooms and by specialist doctors.

It can be performed as a treatment on its own, and can be a complementary procedure to facial surgery that usually treats the skin tone unification phase after stretching and cutting.

This is the traditional approach that advocates peeling and renewing the skin from scratch.

What is not taken into account is the long recovery time, which can reach long weeks."

So what is the solution?

"In recent years, it is more common to treat the skin texture and renew it in less invasive ways and with zero recovery time - an instrument that combines radio waves and laser, and shortens the recovery period," he explains.

Dr. Sion Mercer, an expert in dermatology, aesthetics and laser, reinforces his words: "In recent years, the approach has developed that believes in as little destruction of the skin cells and tissues as possible.

The new approaches help to restore and rebuild the skin without damaging the tissues, and it is a technological device that works in a non-invasive way.

If in the past treatment for spots and skin texture was done aggressively, today there are advanced ways that are more user-friendly," she explains.

So how do you use home peeling?

Many women are afraid to use peeling, and are not sure what type is right for them and what is the recommended frequency.

  • Let's start with the skin type.

Almost all skin types can undergo natural peeling.

For normal skin we recommend a frequency of twice a week, for oily skin with a tendency to acne we recommend a non-aggressive exfoliation, with gentle circular movements, and those with dry skin can also benefit from an exfoliation, but it is advisable to choose a gentle type, and apply a moisturizer immediately after using it.

  • The type of peeling - there are different types of peeling, some are for the face and some for the body.

It is forbidden in any way to use body peeling on the face, because these are coarser particles, which can injure the delicate skin of the face.

  • Frequency - how many times a week is it allowed to use peeling?

The general and common recommendation is to use peeling once a week.

However, the VP of training and development of Dermalogica Israel, Liat Feliser Halpert, shatters the myth. "It is permissible to exfoliate daily, as long as it is a gentle exfoliation that does not scrub the skin or irritate it." Our recommendation? Try to increase the amount Use the weekly peeling, and check how your skin reacts.

  • Allergy and sensitivity - it is very important to do an allergy test for the product before using it on the face.

Do a test in a hidden area, for example behind the ear, to make sure that the substance does not irritate you, which may lead to the opposite result and irritated skin.
