Challenge between Rihanna and Lady Gaga for the Oscar for best song

(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 24 - It is a challenge between Rihanna (in her first nomination) and Lady Gaga, both nominated for the Oscar for best original song.

Nominations were announced today and also include other star talent in the category such as David Byrne and Diane Warren, winner of an honorary Oscar last month, today in her 14th nomination in the category with "Applause," from the documentary Tell It Like a Woman.

   Taylor Swift, whose Wherethe Crawdads Sing "Carolina" was among the eligible candidates, is not on the list.

    Here are the five candidate songs: Lift Me Up from BlackPanther: Wakanda Forever by Tems, Ludwig Göransson, Rihanna and Ryan Coogler;

Applause from Diane Warren's Tell It like a Woman; Hold My Hand from Lady Gaga's Top Gun: Maverick and Bloodpop;

NaatuNaatu from RRR by Kala Bhairava, MM Keeravani, Rahul Sipligunj;This Is A Life from Everything Everywhere All at Once by DavidByrne, Son Lux and Mitski.
