Damascus University and the Syrian Organization for Persons with Disabilities, Amal, signed two cooperation agreements, with the aim of providing technical support for the two bachelor's programs in audiology and prosthetics and orthotics at the Faculty of Health Sciences.

According to the two agreements signed by the President of Damascus University, Dr. Muhammad Osama Al-Jabban, and the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Amal Organization, Dr. Ali Turkmani, the supervision and teaching in the audiology and prosthetics and orthotics programs at the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Damascus will be within the competence of the faculty members at the university, and it is permissible to participate in supervision and teaching from among Qualified specialists from outside the university, and providing the two programs with the necessary cadres is subject to the provisions of the laws and regulations in force.

In turn, the Amal Organization contributes to securing the curricula and courses specified within the two aforementioned programs, and provides technical support for the two programs according to the list of courses sent by the College of Health Sciences, in addition to providing what is needed for practical training in the organization’s centers according to the capabilities available to bachelor students, especially training that is not available at the university.

The two sides also signed the executive program of the previously joint agreements on the study programs opened in the College of Health Sciences, in a way that secures the appropriate academic degree for those working in these programs, and enhances the quality of services provided to persons with disabilities, which reflects positively on their quality of life.

In statements to the media after the signing, the President of Damascus University pointed out the importance of the agreements in training and supporting students studying at the Faculty of Health Sciences at Damascus University, which includes specific specializations that meet the needs of society and contribute to achieving sustainable development.

Dr. Turkmani indicated that the organization's cooperation with the University of Damascus has been more than twenty years old, during which more than ten agreements were concluded in several specialties, to restore the cadres specialized in the process of rehabilitation in the field of disability, explaining that most of the specializations related to rehabilitation have been completed in the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Damascus, and they will be signed Another agreement in September to complete the rehabilitation team related to occupational therapy, the latest rehabilitation specialization in the college.

Amal Organization was established in 2002, and it is a non-profit, civil organization that works to improve the lives of people with disabilities, by building knowledge and awareness, providing treatment, rehabilitation, and enhancing their involvement in building society.
