A 19-year-old girl was killed yesterday by her father at the entrance to a Karachi court for marrying a man of his choice.
Hajra, this is the girl's name, had run away from home and married the man on 3 January.
The father had reported the kidnapping of the young woman accusing the man and at the time of the murder the police were taking the woman to court.
The father, according to local media, opened fire as his daughter walked through the gate of the courthouse.
The girl died instantly while the policeman who accompanied her and a passerby were injured.
The 65-year-old man was arrested.
