Oscars: "Nothing New in the West" nominated for Best Picture

For the first time, a German film has made it into the nominees of a main category: »Nothing New in the West« by director Edward Berger has been nominated for the most important award in the film industry.

A German film nominated in the most important category of the Oscars: "Nothing New in the West" by director Edward Berger is one of 10 candidates in the running for the award for the best film.

It also received eight other nominations, for: Special Effects, Cinematography, Production Design, Make-up, Sound Design, Score, Adapted Screenplay and Best International Film.

Most recently, a German film won an Oscar abroad in 2007 with the Stasi drama »The Lives of Others« by director Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck.

The last nomination so far was for »Werk ohne Autor« also by Henckel von Donnersmarck from 2018, also in the category best international film.

The Oscars will be awarded for the 95th time on March 12th.

They are considered the most important award in the film industry.
