The Last of Us is one of the early series highlights of the year.
Do the producers already have a second season planned?
Hamburg – After the first episodes it is already clear: The Last of Us is another great success for the producing broadcaster HBO.
Not only that, the series adaptation of the popular PlayStation games is also considered one of the best - if not the best - cinematic adaptation of a video game.
Therefore, another season should probably not stand in the way.

The Last of Us season 2 not yet confirmed:
HBO has not yet revealed whether they will continue the series.
But for two reasons it stands to reason that the producers are already planning another season.
High viewership:
4.7 and 5.7 million viewers tuned in to the first two episodes in the USA.
In the second episode, the number of viewers increased by 22 percent, which speaks for the great interest of the audience.
Excellent grades on rating portals:
Not only are viewers high, the audience also likes what they see.

, the viewer rating is an astronomical 96 percent of 100. Judging by the first two episodes, The Last of Us would be one of the best series of all time on IMDb with a rating of 9.4 out of 10. This is partly due to that the adaptation is based so closely on the video game template.

The number of seasons should be limited:
producer Craig Mazin commented on the subject to Gizmodo.
"I'm not interested in going beyond the existing source material."
He wants to avoid The Last of Us getting season after season without the producers seeing an end to the story.
This problem has, for example, the thematically similar series The Walking Dead, which already has more than ten seasons - and for which various spinoffs have already been produced.
Should HBO decide to continue The Last of Us - which is very likely - then the producers will probably continue to follow the story of the originals closely and make some minor changes.
Season 1 picks up on the events of the first game, so Season 2 is expected to cover The Last of Us Part II.
