The 95th Oscar ceremony is underway: today (Tuesday) the finalists for the ceremony to be held in March were announced in Los Angeles.

The sci-fi action drama "Everything everywhere at once", by the creative duo Dan Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, which unfolds a family story that unfolds across parallel universes, leads with 11 nominations, including the best picture hole and for the Asian actors Michelle Yeoh and Kee Hui Kwan, who won before Two weeks each at the Golden Globes for their acting performances, and supporting actresses Stephanie Shaw and Jamie Lee Curtis.

In the leading actress category, Yeo will face Cate Blanchett in "The Winning Tar", Anna de Armes in "Blonde", Michelle Williams in Steven Spielberg's film "The Fallen Men", which received seven nominations in total and Ander for the film "Leslie".

"Inishreen Spirits" by director and screenwriter Martin McDonagh, centered on a pair of residents on a deserted Irish island whose friendship ends one day without either party understanding why, picked up nine nominations including for best picture and for actors Colin Farrell, Brendan Gleeson, Kerry Condon and Barry Keoghan.

The film will be released in Israel next week.

Farrell will compete in the leading actor category against Austin Butler in "Elvis", Brendan Fraser in "The Whale", Paul Maskell in "After the Sun" and Bill Nye, in the film "To Live".

The international film category is led by the German representative "All Quiet on the Western Front", which was distributed on Netflix and received a total of nine nominations, and will face the representatives of Belgium, Argentina, Poland and Ireland.

The Israeli representative "Sabaya Cinema" failed to make it to the preliminary stage of the short list published by the Academy last month.

The last time Israel was nominated was 11 years ago with "Footnote" by Yosef Sider.

Israel holds the unflattering title of the country with the most nominations, ten in total, without a single winner in its history.

The 2023 Oscar ceremony will take place on March 12 at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood and will be hosted by Late Night host Jimmy Kimmel, who has hosted twice before.
