When you think of jazz music, it is likely that the name of the singer Shimi Tabori will not be the first name that comes to your mind.
Despite this, tonight his hits will receive an interesting facelift, when Tabori will perform together with the Haifa Symphony Orchestra, which will host him as part of "Big Band Haifa" for an Israeli jazz evening.
"I come from all over the world, I like blues, jazz, rock and roll, heavy rock. That's how I grew up and I'm very excited and happy to perform with such a big orchestra, a big band with wind instruments, drums, keyboards and bass. We sing together ten of my songs, and between In between they play blues and jazz, which is lovely," says Tabori.
"I think every singer would like to have such an orchestra with him on stage. It's true that the musical genre is different, but in the end the songs are the same songs, only they get a different volume - everything is big and sounds beautiful."

Will the audience that comes to this concert meet another Shimi?
"I performed with the orchestra about a week ago in Kfar Saba, and we saw how the audience reacted, they had a great time and were excited. They didn't stop clapping, so I'm sure there will be great excitement this evening as well."
Next month he will turn 70, and behind him dozens of hits that have become established in our musical pantheon.
He doesn't stop performing, but don't expect new material, because past experience teaches him that everyone wants to hear the old hits.
Maybe to remember who they were when these songs hit the airwaves and radio stations.

"New material always interests me, it's just that they don't get played," he shares honestly, "Last year I released three songs, but the radio stations like to play the old material. I understand that this is part of life. I have 200 songs, it's no joke, and people embrace about the past".
After the disbandment of Static and Ben-El, is there a chance that we will now get a duet of the two of you?
"I have no idea, maybe in the future, you never know. I would be happy for that, but time will take its course."
