There have already been 39 mass shootings in the United States this year, more than ever in American history, according to data from the Gun Violence Archive (GVA).
Between 2019 and 2020, the total number of mass shootings per year increased from 417 to 610. The worst year to date was 2021 with 690 incidents in 44 states, while 2022 saw a slight decrease with 647.
