A short break with sunny moments especially in the South and on the Tyrrhenian side with maximum temperatures over 10 degrees also in the Po Valley, then from Thursday the cold and frost return for another 10 days.
This is what Lorenzo Tedici, meteorologist of the site www.iLMeteo.it announces, confirming a probable phase below the thermal average at least until Candelora, on 2 February.
A vast depression will draw polar-arctic air towards the Adriatic regions and the south. Temperatures will drop by 5-7 degrees in the middle Adriatic and south and there will be moderate snowfalls even at low altitudes.
The white mantle will spread over the Apennines from the Marches to Sicily, initially at high hill altitudes then decreasing up to 200 meters in the Center and up to 400-600 meters in the South.
In summary, during the next few hours we will have the last snowfalls in western Piedmont and snow in the central-eastern Alps above 600 meters.
The rest of the North will experience markedly variable weather with some showers alternating with flashes of sunshine.
In the Center we will find some residual rain in Sardinia and on the Adriatic in a milder and sunnier context, while in the South the good weather will be disturbed only by some evening showers in Sicily.
Tomorrow the weather will be similar, while from Thursday and until the end of the month, the middle Adriatic and the South will see more snowfall.

- Tuesday 24. In the North: at times unstable in western Piedmont with snowfalls at hilly altitudes, also possible on the north-east hills.
In the Centre: showers on the Adriatic Sea, lower Lazio and Sardinia, here with snow at 700 metres.
In the South: always rather unstable in Sicily;
sun elsewhere.
- Wednesday 25. In the North: unstable in Lower Piedmont and Emilia Romagna, sunny north of the Po. In the Centre: unstable in the Adriatic area and in Sardinia with showers, snow level around 700 metres.
In the South: showers on Puglia, Calabria and Ionian Sicily.
- Thursday 26. In the North: sunny except for clouds in Emilia Romagna.
In the Centre: sunny in Sardinia, cloudy elsewhere.
In the South: bad weather arriving with snow above 800 metres.
