After the Minister of Health, Carla Vizzotti, announced last Thursday the incorporation of bivalent vaccines into the vaccination campaign against Covid-19, this week the doses began to reach the vaccinators.
This Wednesday morning,
Pfizer's bivalents
began to be given in some centers of the city of Buenos Aires.
In others, and in the vaccination centers of the Province, they are still applying the reinforcements with the original formula.
The bivalents are
vaccines adapted to the variants
, which combine the original strain that emerged in Wuhan with the first from Ómicron.
Its effectiveness against the subvariants of this strain is greater, although the specialists clarify that the important thing is to comply with the vaccination schedule and
receive reinforcements 120 days
after the last dose applied.
The bivalents that will be applied in this first stage are from Pfizer.
Last week a batch of 1.1 million doses arrived, in the week of February 6 around 3 million from Moderna will be received and in the following week, another 1.2 million from Pfizer.
In the Buenos Aires vaccination center of Parque Lezama they were still applying the original strain vaccines.
In San Lorenzo, on the other hand, they were already giving
bivalents as reinforcement for everyone over 12 years of age
.
The Buenos Aires government told this newspaper that these differences are due "to logistical issues" and they estimated that during the course of the day all the vaccinators would be applying the bivalents.
In the province of Buenos Aires it is not yet confirmed when they will begin to be applied.
According to sources from the Ministry of Health to
Clarín
, they are waiting for the delivery of part of the Nation to hospitals and vaccination centers.
They estimated that
the distribution is beginning this Thursday
.
Clarín
toured different vaccination centers in the Federal Capital and Greater Buenos Aires on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Among the testimonies he collected, there was a coincidence: most people began to go to the posts due to the increase in cases that occurred in recent weeks.
Regarding interest in receiving the new formula, there were differences.
This Wednesday, Marisol arrived early at the San Lorenzo vaccination center with her 14-year-old son Gonzalo for his fifth dose to be applied.
"I was not aware of the new formula, the girls at the entrance just told me," she comments, noting that being able to apply this dose "is a great relief to be able to be
immunized for the new variants
."
Ismael, in charge of that post, explained that at the moment "people do not consult for bivalent vaccines. For now, the new Pfizer formula is being given for those over 12 years of age and from the third dose."
In the south of the Buenos Aires suburbs, in the sanitary gazebo that was installed in the Parque Domínico de Avellaneda, people have now begun to ask if they are going to receive the bivalent.
"But when it is reported that the bivalents have not yet been distributed and that there is no information,
the same applies to Pfizer or Moderna's pediatric
. Only once did it happen to us that a woman left," explained Alejandra, responsible for that post, and He remarked that in recent times the number of applications has increased.

In the Hospital Evita de Lanús the situation is the same.
"Many people came to consult for the bivalent in recent days and we also had a meeting to have answers to that," said one of the vaccinators from the place.
In addition, she commented that "although people ask about this type of vaccine,
the existing ones are still applied
."
How to get vaccinated
In the City, both to receive booster doses and to complete or start vaccination schemes,
it is necessary to register to obtain a shift
.
Registration can be done on the website www.buenosaires.gob.ar/coronavirus/vacunacion-covid-19 and also through the Boti chat or the 147 telephone line.
In the Province you can
go directly to the vaccination clinics
.
The list of those qualified is available at https://vacunatepba.gba.gob.ar.
However, in Buenos Aires (and it is a recurring complaint)
vaccination centers are only open from Monday to Friday
and until, at most, 6:00 p.m. This makes it difficult in many cases to arrive on time after an 8-hour workday in an average schedule.
In the Capital, there are vaccination posts
open on Saturdays and Sundays
.
There are four: Islamic Center, San Lorenzo, Larreta Museum and Devoto, from 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.
Those who are domiciled in other jurisdictions can approach, but only with prior registration and shift, as if they reside in the Capital.
