"Excluding defense investments from the 'Stability Pact' would be a purely technical decision and if it were authorized by Europe it would remove competition between types of expenditure, Minister Giorgetti also shared this thing and we brought it to Europe's table as well as other countries, because at a time like this no country is able to cut investments in defense, also because
the help we have given Ukraine in recent months is an aid that requires us to restore the stocks needed for national defence
, so the two things are connected".
Thus the Minister of Defense, Guido Crosetto, in a hearing to the joint commissions of the Defense of the Chamber and of Foreign Affairs and Defense of the Senate,
We need "a profound evolution in terms of joint forces of the military instrument in terms of orders, logistics, technology and regulations. There are many initiatives to be launched for such a condition, starting with a
review of the top structures, which eliminates duplications not dictated by needs
of operational redundancies and which allows the improvement of the quality and the containment of times in work processes. It is also necessary to unify the sectors and services common to the various armed forces", said Crosetto.
We need to define a new financing model in the defense investment sector
, based on a three-year investment law, which brings together in a single maneuver the financial volumes relating to three successive measures with a depth of 17 years. This intervention would make it possible to effectively support the national position on the international tables of the various cooperative programs with possible repercussions on the investment and employment choices of the industry", continued Crosetto.
