The LGBT youth hit, which is based on the series of graphic novels of the same name, will not air this April as the first season did, and it is now speculated that it will air on the streaming platform in the summer months.

In an interview given by the author Alice Ozman, the writer of the books and who is also responsible for writing the series, to "Digital Spy", she said that "issues related to mental health will be further explored in the series" because "this is a very important thing in the books".

The second season will also dive into a love story that appears in the third volume of the book series, of the beloved teacher and character Mr. Ajay with a new teacher named Mr. Farooq.

"They have a unique relationship that happens in the background, which eventually becomes more than that. I think it will be really fun to write that as part of the series and I'm very excited to write it."

While other storylines have yet to be confirmed, series star Kit Connor (who plays Nick) said in an interview with NME that "there's a lot more to explore in the show in terms of family" and hinted at a focus on a homophobic character (presumably his brother, who has yet to appear in the series).

The six main actors from the first season - Joe Locke, Keith Connor, Yasmin Finney, William Gao, Karina Brown and Kizzy Edgewell - will also return in the new season.

As well as supporting actors like Toby Donovan, Jenny Walser, Chita Pandya and others.

Alice Ozman will also return as a writer for the second season.
