The prelates should use 'tenderness, please, as God has for each of us,' says Francis in an interview with the Associated Press (ANSA)

Pope Francis has criticized laws criminalizing homosexuality as "unjust", saying God loves all his children as they are and called on Catholic bishops to welcome LGBTQ people into the Church.

"Being homosexual is not a crime

," Francis said in an interview with the Associated Press.

Francis called it a "sin" for bishops who support laws that criminalize homosexuality or discriminate against the gay community.

"These bishops must go through a process of conversion", he said, adding that they should use "tenderness, please, as God has for each of us".
