Italy "will do everything to eliminate the obstacles, in the meetings in Cairo I glimpsed a different willingness from Egypt even if the process is going through a stalemate. We will continue to monitor what Egypt will do in the future, we will see if the words will follow the facts. There is no justice without truth".

This is how Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani replies, at Question time in the Chamber, on Giulio Regeni on the anniversary of his disappearance in Egypt, seven years ago.

"We need a more effective collaboration - said Tajani - starting with the notification of the writs of summons but we cannot do without dialogue".

"I want today - said the minister in response to a question from the Democratic Party - to reconfirm my closeness and that of the government to the Regeni family, which has the right to have the light shed and those responsible to be tried and punished".

Tajani underlined the importance of his mission in Egypt, where he also met Al Sisi, "a country of great importance on various dossiers, from the fight against terrorism to energy. We are convinced that cooperation channels must be kept open with Cairo as our allies are doing. Also on Patrick Zaki, the Egyptian student of the University of Bologna detained in Cairo, Tajani stated that "

"In Algiers, President Meloni discussed the potential of Transmed, in Tunis I valued the approval of the Elmed project, from Egypt in 2023 we expect three billion cubic meters of gas. With these and other initiatives, Italy aims to become an energy hub".

This was stated by Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani in Question time in the Chamber.

"The Mediterranean - said Tajani - is the central hub of Italian foreign policy, a millennial crossroads of relationships. The Italian government aims to be increasingly the protagonist, otherwise the gaps left will be filled by others, with this objective my and my missions are framed of the premier with new stops soon throughout the Mediterranean".

Tajani reiterated that the flows of irregular immigrants must be tackled "
