All flights were canceled today at Berlin Brandenburg airport due to
staff strike demanding wage increases

According to the airport,
around 300 flights have been canceled or rescheduled
, impacting around 35,000 passengers.
The day-long "warning strike" was called by the powerful Verdi union to increase pressure ahead of the next round of negotiations with bosses.
The union said it expected around 1,500 airport employees to join the strike.
The Greens are calling for a monthly salary increase of 500 euros over a 12-month period for
ground staff
.
For
security personnel
, calls for an increase in bonuses for working hours on weekends and holidays.
"Everyone knows the exorbitant price hike, both for food and fuel," Verdi's Holger Roessler told German media.
German inflation slowed to 8.6% in December, after reaching a peak of 10.4% in October, mainly thanks to government support measures to reduce energy costs.
At the end of last year, Germany's largest trade union IG Metall secured a deal for an 8.5% wage rise for nearly four million workers in the industrial sectors after staging a series of warning strikes.
