(ANSA) - WASHINGTON, JAN 24 - Overturned trucks, hundreds of motorists stranded and 113,000 people without electricity after a powerful tornado passed through Texas, in the Houston area.

The local police chief spoke of "damaged catastrophic".
"In my 25 years here, I've never seen anything like it," said Josh Bruegger speaking to the press.
At the moment, only one injured has been reported in the city but, according to the mayor, "buildings have collapsed".
According to PowerOutage.us, there are 113,000 people without electricity.
The National Weather Service warned that the tornado was moving northeast at a speed of nearly 100 kilometers per hour.
