It doesn't always have to be Bolognese.
We've known this classic since childhood: lasagne with the world-famous ragout Bolognese sauce.
But anyone who thinks that lasagne can only be made one way has certainly not tasted this variant with goulash.
When it comes to heartiness and depth of flavor, goulash is in no way inferior to the typical Bolognese.
Therefore, it is not far off to layer goulash in a lasagna - basta!
That's how it's done:
You need these ingredients:
Goulash:
2 tbsp cooking oil
200 g onions, diced
500 g goulash
120 g bacon cubes
1 tbsp tomato paste
100 ml red wine
400 ml beef stock
1 tsp pepper
1 tsp salt
1 tsp paprika powder, sweet
0.5 tsp marjoram
Béchamel:
40 grams of butter
40 grams of flour
300ml milk
200 ml vegetable broth
1 tsp salt
pinch of nutmeg
70 g grated cheese
Besides that:
6 lasagne sheets
200 g grated cheese
The preparation is so easy:
For the goulash:
Heat the oil in a saucepan on high and sauté the onions, bacon and goulash until roasted aromas develop.
Add the tomato paste and red wine and stir to remove the base from the bottom of the pan.
After the liquid has reduced, turn the heat down to medium and add the beef stock, salt, pepper, paprika and marjoram and stir to combine.
Put a lid on the pot and simmer over low heat for 2 hours.
After the 2 hours have elapsed, preheat the oven to 180°C.
For the béchamel sauce:
Heat the butter in a saucepan over medium-high heat until it bubbles, add the flour and sauté for about 3 minutes, stirring constantly.
Gradually stir in the milk and then the vegetable stock.
When the sauce is boiling, season with salt, nutmeg and stir in the grated cheese.
For the lasagne: Spread
a little goulash and béchamel sauce on the base and top with a layer of grated cheese.
Cover with 3 sheets of lasagne and then pour the goulash and béchamel over it.
Repeat this step one more time.
Finish with the remaining grated cheese on the last layer.
Bake the lasagne in the oven for about 50 minutes until a golden crust has formed.
Finally, cut out portions and arrange on a plate.
Et voila, bon appetit!
