Caution, eyebrows: "There are many stolen works of tattoo artists" | Israel today

2023-01-26T11:27:32.724Z

Eyebrows have long been no longer just a row of hair on the face, but frames for the eyes whose design trends change and are updated all the time. Someone who just saw two videos on the Internet and decided to work in the field?

The fashion trends regarding eyebrows change almost every year.

The transitions from thick eyebrows to thin ones and back to natural and hairy ones have left a large part of us with only a few eyebrow hairs, and when the current trend is a present eyebrow - many are looking for the solution that will help them fill in their eyebrows' deficiencies or thickness and make it dominant.

The pursuit of the perfect eyebrow has created a vibrant and flourishing eyebrow market.

If you used to be able to find only pencil, eye shadow and clear mascara, today there is a variety of pencils with tips of varying sizes, powder eye shadows, gel, mousse, cream, powder, wax and more.

Apart from them, there are also different tattoo treatments that create the appearance of a real eyebrow using different methods.

But does the perfect eyebrow really exist, and how do we even match it to the structure of the face?

"A lot of women actually want a thick eyebrow look, which doesn't necessarily suit them," says Merav Kubritz, artist and microblading instructor.

"Israeli women love strong color. The style that is popular here is considered 'masculine' in Europe, and even in the US they are more refined than us.

Here it is a Middle Eastern style, really 'Angry Birds' - a straight and compressed eyebrow, with an Asian look that is thicker than the proportions of the face, even though our face structure does not fit this type of eyebrow.

"Those who have a small face - it is not advisable for you to get a tattoo of a thick eyebrow. Nowadays many women look like 'copy-paste', which is a shame. The more you are faithful to your natural structure and the less you thicken your eyebrow - the more natural its fading will be, and you will not be enslaved to her and to her renewal".

According to Ofer Levin, make-up artist and head instructor at Sisley's Shastovitz, the eyebrow is the frame of the face: "For a round face structure, it is recommended to create a sharper eyebrow in the shape of a triangle, which will break the roundness; for a square face, you should create a slightly rounded eyebrow, to break the sharpness of the face; And for a narrow and long face, we recommend combing the eyebrow upwards using the hair method, to add volume to the face."

The three most common methods for eyebrow tattoos today are microblading, the hair method and the shading/powder method.

Kubritz explains the differences: "Microblading and the hair method are essentially the same method - drawing hairs, but the first is done with a manual device and the second with an electric device. With the shading method, the eyebrow is actually dyed. In the past, it was done with a tattoo while compressing a lot of color into the eyebrow, but today the look is more airy And you get a brow with a soft, powdery shadow. You can also combine the methods."

"Here this is a 'neighborhood'"

The treatment itself, according to Kubritz, usually includes two sessions and a compatibility test.

Those with particularly oily skin may need three sessions, and those who only want minor corrections may need one session.

If you have already done such a treatment in the past, you may need a laser treatment before, to remove the old pigment.

"If you pay a very low price, there is a high probability that these are low-quality materials, because those approved by the American FDA or the European CE cost a lot. In Israel, the Ministry of Health does not supervise the materials or the level of professionalism of the artists - who can see two videos on YouTube , print a certificate for themselves and start marketing courses or perform treatments themselves.

"In the USA and Europe there is a very tight control, and now even stricter regulations have been issued on the color pigments, to purify them even more from harmful substances.

There are special standards there, and here it's a 'neighborhood'."

"It's not like gel polish"

After you have decided that the treatment is for you, you should check that the artist you planned to see is indeed professional and uses quality materials, and even if the photos on the Instagram page are indeed hers.

"My recommendation to anyone who is interested in this kind of treatment is to carefully check the pages of the artists on Instagram," Kubritz says, "because there are a lot of stolen works. You can spot a lack of uniformity, because they occasionally also upload their own works, and then there are some great photos and one really Ugly. I myself sued someone, and issued warning letters before a lawsuit after my jobs were stolen.

"It's also a good idea to check and look for recommendations, especially by word of mouth. There are artists you go to and they give you the needle, which you keep at home for next time... It's like in a blood test they give you the needle and tell you to bring it next time. Go find out what kind of sterilization it is pass before use".

How long does the color stay on the eyebrows?

"It depends on the type of pigment and the type of skin. The younger you are and the faster the metabolism, the less time it lasts. Active creams and various acids help the substance disappear faster and even more. Usually between one and three years, but there are some for whom it lasts five or six years."

Is there a risk in this?

"Besides the quality of the materials that penetrate the lymphatic system, and that if you don't know their source they can contain carcinogenic substances or cause allergies, you must understand the meaning of permanent eyebrow makeup. There are those who think it's like gel nail polish, and it's not. It's a tattoo for all intents and purposes, And if damage is done - not all pigments come off with the laser. Scarring of the eyebrows and the skin can occur. Many customers are relieved, they want the cheapest and closest to home."

What is considered a price range that is not too low?

"Usually it ranges from NIS 1,800 to NIS 3,000 for two treatments."

The Ministry of Health stated:

"In order to protect public health, there are Ministry of Health regulations that determine the correct and sterile use of needles for permanent makeup (microblading). The Ministry of Health has set conditions for a business license for institutes for non-medical treatment of the human body, including cosmetic institutes, and supervision is the responsibility of the Authority The supervision of the training of non-medical professionals and their work is not under the authority of the Ministry of Health."

Sisley's Phyto-Sourcils eyebrow pencil, including an eyebrow brush and a highlighter shadow in the pencil.

We fell in love with this pencil from the moment we tried it.

The shade we tested is dark brown with a cold tone, and is very suitable for a dark brow, and even though the tip is triangular, it creates fine hairs well.

The brush is thick and high-quality, and inside the pencil is hidden a small brush that dips into the shadow in a shimmering golden beige shade and is suitable for medium illumination of the inner corners of the eye.

Kylie Cosmetics eyebrow highlighter.

The highlighter comes in several shades.

We tried the bright matte shade, which was easily applied under the browbone and created a precise and bright look, and also served as a very successful highlight in the inner corner of the eye.

It is easy to apply on its own, but you can combine it with a very thin brush, pass it over the pencil and get an extremely thin illuminated line.
