But it is commercially available in powder or liquid form.

Manufacturers of the same promise that colorful clothing will remain so colorful even after several washes.
In addition, color detergents do not contain any bleaching agents or optical brighteners and are therefore more gentle on colors and fabrics than heavy-duty detergents.
But the next question is: which is better – powder or liquid detergent?

The latter in particular has become increasingly popular in recent years, as dosage and handling are very convenient.
In addition, there are no possible residues left on the clothes after washing, as is the case with powder, for example.
But when it comes to cleaning and stain-dissolving power, colored detergent in powder form is still ahead of the game.
This is proven by a current sample from Stiftung Warentest.
Color detergent in liquid often only "sufficient"
She took a close look at 20 color detergents: ten got the grade “good” – most of them are powders.
On the other hand, many liquid products failed the test, every second one was only “sufficient”, and once the grade “poor” was given.
They do a better job of removing stains.
"We also found good liquids, four in total," according to Stiftung Warentest (Issue 2/2023).
However, three of the four products can no longer be bought in the tested form because the manufacturers have changed the recipe.

In comparison, the color detergents in powder form are clearly the winners.
Six of the seven products were rated “good”.
Five were even "good" in terms of color retention - in the case of colorful clothing, this is ultimately the decisive factor in why people buy colored detergents in the first place.
