Participants in the workshop (Transformation of Education: An Urgent Necessity for Our Common Future), which was held today by the Ministries of Education, Higher Education and Scientific Research, discussed the future action plan to achieve the transformation of education, which will reflect positively on society and develop cooperation skills, solve problems and overcome crises to come up with appropriate solutions.
The workshop, which is being held in cooperation with the Aga Khan Development Network at the Cham Hotel in Damascus, focused on the goal and content of education in the 21st century, transforming education systems to meet higher purposes, harnessing the digital revolution in favor of public education, and investing more equitably and efficiently in education.
The three-day workshop aims to achieve the quality of education, in line with the goals of transforming education. The Minister of Education, Dr. Darem Al-Tabbaa, explained in a presentation he made during the workshop that the two basic principles of transforming education are ensuring the right to quality education throughout life and promoting education as a public act. And a common benefit, pointing out the need to think about a creative scientific methodology that serves the community.
The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Bassam Ibrahim, pointed out the importance of partnership with the Ministry of Education to apply transformation in education to achieve digital transformation and sustainable development, and the importance of the workshop to come up with proposals and indicators that meet the requirements of the labor market.
In turn, the representative of the Aga Khan Network in Syria, Ghatfan Ajoub, stressed that education is the main carrier of development, pointing out that in addition to the network's current work in societal, economic and cultural development, it is working to support the educational process in Syria.
It is noteworthy that the deans of the faculties of science, education, arts and humanities in a number of universities, directors of the central administration at the Ministry of Education and directors of education in the governorates are participating in the workshop.
