(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 26 - "I survived the deportation, I was 14 when I was sent to Birkenau. I lost all of my family but in reality I lost a total of 2,000 people, i.e. those who were part of the small Jewish community of Rhodes , from which I come. I still represent this community. As long as I have the strength and avoid, I will pass on to the kids what has been. I have faith and hope in those who will come after us".
This was stated by Sami Modiano, 92, a witness to the Holocaust, after a preview visit with the Minister of Culture Sangiuliano and the mayor of Rome Gualtieri of the exhibition "The Nazi hell. The death camps of Belzec, Sobibor and Treblinka" scheduled in Rome from 27 January at the Holocaust Museum Foundation.
