Do you sometimes doubt whether you are doing a good job?

In the afternoon in the office, no gummy bear is safe from you and in the evening the couch is more tempting than the jogging group?

Are you tired even though you actually sleep enough?

If your answer is yes, then these may be serious early signs of fatigue.

You wouldn't be alone with that either!

According to a survey by Techniker Krankenkasse TK, almost two out of three people in Germany feel stressed "sometimes", and more than a quarter often (26 percent).

In Bavaria every second person is overweight!

You can read here why this is, what really helps against it and that some people suffering from stress may even be to blame for the situation.

Surveys have shown that the same reasons for chronic fatigue are given again and again.

It is true that everyone is stressed differently and where one person is annoyed when the phone rings, others can sleep peacefully in the noisy large compartment of the ICE.

But there is a clear trend as to what causes fatigue most often.

These six reasons are the most common causes of fatigue:

  • Less and bad sleep

  • Unhealthy diet

  • Little movement

  • Little light

  • Too few breaks

  • Too many tasks/hustle and bustle

Mental exhaustion: the hidden danger

The top six most common reasons for exhaustion are among the so-called "physical" triggers that many sufferers expose as the culprit themselves.

The psychological factors are much more dangerous because they gradually progress.

These can be external reasons such as too many tasks, illnesses or strokes of fate, but also internal reasons:

  • Perfectionism

: "I have to do everything perfectly."

  • Self-esteem doubt

: "I'm only valuable if I do XY."

  • Fears

: "To be liked, I always have to say yes."

  • Incorrect role models:

    "As a friend/mum

    ,

    I always have to help."

  • Social Isolation

: Loneliness and being on your own can be exhausting

Why you may be to blame for the exhaustion

What is interesting is the fact that many exhausted people recognize their stressful behavior patterns and often even know how to recharge their empty batteries - but again and again reason and knowledge are in a central conflict with reality and real life.

Unfortunately, many of the factors that lead to fatigue are dismissed as "not so bad," leading to a vicious cycle of more and more exhaustion and more and more "it doesn't matter."

On the scales, such a cycle can be reflected in the notorious yo-yo effect.

Do you also know that time when you ...

... packed your appointment calendar

... took on new tasks

... went to bed too late

... stayed in bed too long instead of soaking up the sun

. .. raided the candy drawer

... missed the running club in the evening

Important

In psychology, when something that

would be

easy is so difficult to implement, the rule is: look deeper.

Then there are unconscious motives that prevent us from doing something good for ourselves and we sabotage ourselves.

Example:

It could be that the hustle and bustle that you could turn off has a psychological function for you.

For example, if you are constantly busy:

● You feel important

● Others think you are important ●

You are distracted by your worries

● You don't feel your own emptiness

What does exhaustion have to do with the scale?

Did you know that being overweight is often directly related to chronic fatigue?

Behind this is a complex combination of biochemical processes in the body, which goes haywire under the constant influence of stress hormones - without you noticing it immediately.

Adrenaline, noradrenaline and cortisol suppress other hormones in the long run, "which means that fat mass in the body increases and muscle mass decreases," says Professor Dr.

Günter Stalla, working group leader at the Max Planck Institute for Psychiatry, Munich on the website of the German Society for Endocrinology.

A Finnish study showed another reason for the direct connection between obesity and exhaustion: In women with signs of burnout syndrome or chronic exhaustion, emotional and uncontrolled eating behavior was more common - and the pointer on the scale inevitably climbed up.

What can I do effectively against exhaustion?

So how do you break out of this vicious cycle when you find yourself becoming more and more exhausted by not escaping old patterns – and becoming more and more exhausted?

Every beginning is difficult and the following points must be practiced over and over again.

But don't worry: over time you will learn to perceive yourself better and faster - and thus to escape the cycle of exhaustion.

  • Stabilize the body

: The human body is a marvel of countless cogs that must mesh harmoniously to keep it in balance.

Sleep, nutrition, exercise and periods of rest as well as physical relaxation are the basis for mental peace.

Turning just one set screw is usually not enough.

  • Take a step back

: Imagine you are advising a good friend in this situation.

Observe yourself as neutrally and nonjudgmentally as possible in which situations you react and how.

Do you eat chocolate when you're sad?

Do you start cleaning like crazy when you have a fight with your partner?

Or do you work overtime every day because you want to please your boss?

Only those who identify their own stress patterns can take countermeasures.

  • Really Understanding Individual Fatigue

: Studies indicate that the old adage “a sound mind in a sound body” is medically correct.

When it comes to stress, exhaustion and obesity, body and psyche form a unit that must be viewed as a whole.

Some medically and psychologically sound online weight loss courses already take this knowledge into account.

  • Questioning stress patterns

: Be completely honest and ask yourself before reaching for the cookie jar: Do I really need this now?

When arguing with my partner: don't I actually need a hug from him now?

Or am I being morbidly busy so that everyone can see how valuable I am - even though I actually want recognition?

  • Find alternatives

: Dare to demand exactly what you actually need.

The closeness of your partner, positive feedback from colleagues or superiors, a comforting conversation with a loved one.

Only when these true needs are met can you relax.

  • Test: Which weight loss type am I?
