Aix-en-Provence Easter Festival: let us dream of our 20th anniversary!

2023-01-27T16:04:22.607Z

In a decade, the event imagined by Renaud Capuçon and Dominique Bluzet with the CIC has imposed itself under the sign of excellence. And knew how to show that nothing stopped him.

It floats like a refrain of disbelief, reminiscent of Alain Souchon's song.

"I feel like that's not true but we're 10 years old.

The very fact of talking about it is quite funny: I have the feeling that it was yesterday that we launched the festival”

, concedes Renaud Capuçon.

The artistic director of the event does not hide his emotion, at the mention of the great moments that have already marked the history of the festival.

“Every evening after the concert, when I see the artists present discussing together, I tell myself that if I had wanted to bring them together for dinner, I would never have succeeded.

That's the magic of this festival.

Encounters you don't see anywhere else.

And the strength of its teams, which in ten years have shown that they are capable of moving mountains as big as Sainte-Victoire.

Even at the height of crises

,” he says.

This festival, at the start, is that of the irrational.

We never imagined, when we created it, that we would still be here ten years later

Dominique Bluzet, co-founder and co-director of the festiva

An opinion shared by its co-founder and co-director, Dominique Bluzet:

“This festival, at the start, is that of the irrational.

We never imagined, when we created it, that we would still be there ten years later.

With such a collection of great memories, encounters and unique artistic moments.

Or that we would go through so many ordeals by coming out of it first alive, but also grown up!”

Ten years later, the Easter Festival is here… Having been able to reinvent itself with the pandemic.

More inserted than ever in the international musical landscape and on its own territory.

The numbers speak for themselves.

In a decade, the number of concerts has increased by 65%.

Extending from the center of Aix to the entire southern region.

That of the public by 120%.

Bringing the 14,000 spectators from 2013 to more than 30,000 today.

As for the artists, they were 400 the first year.

They will be 1,000 in 2023.

A

"virtuous dynamic"

which, according to Daniel Baal, general manager of the CIC (founding partner of the festival), has enabled the event to rise to the rank of

"true reference in its field".

But which is also

“the fruit of concrete actions such as the Sharing Festival.

They aim to be long-term and to create a territorial resonance”

.

This resonance is reinforced this year by new actions aimed at the youngest.

Without denying the requirement for a high-flying program that Renaud Capuçon promises, for the next ten years,

“always more mature, innovative and organic”

.

And above all, always with this

“grain of madness”

which means that no edition looks like another.
