While environmental issues are multiplying, French municipalities are adopting strategies to oppose concreting.


A loan of 95 million euros granted to the city of Strasbourg for, in particular, the revegetation of around twenty schoolyards, 1.5 million euros released by the town hall of Lyon for the gradual renaturation of the square Bellecour, the development of more than 2,000 m2 of gardens in Vincennes by 2026… As environmental issues continue to rise, French municipalities are adopting strategies to oppose concreting.

However, this goodwill remains subject to judicious choices (plants with good absorption of CO2, non-allergenic pollen, etc.) and sometimes unsustainable technical constraints.

Paris thus had to abandon its dream of a forest on the forecourt of the town hall because the weight would have crushed the underground car park.

Even the government encourages participation in the environmental effort by granting financial support for urban renewal projects (12 billion between 2024 and 2030).
