On the subject of reforms, Confindustria invites serious discussions on autonomy, because the country cannot be divided. "Nobody wants to break anything", is the reply of Minister Calderoli. According to industrialists, the data say that 2023 will not be so gloomy, but now the government must not make mistakes The per capita wealth of Italians is growing (ANSA)

The question of autonomy is "the beginning of a process of reflection on a very complex theme of the country. I think we can make some

reflections, let's discuss seriously", says the leader of the industrialists Carlo Bonomi.

The leader of Confindustria warns : "It shouldn't be a matter of dividing the country"

He explains that we can't afford it: "This country cannot be divided: it has urgent problems to deal with".

And to respond to the USA and China, for the "real challenge, that of the competitiveness of the European industrial system", one cannot respond "with Italy or with a regional system.

For certain challenges we need at least a European dimension

" .

According to Bonomi, in the face of the reform for differentiated autonomy on which Minister Roberto Calderoli is working, attention is needed - the leader of the industrialists points out - on strategic sectors for the country, such as transport networks, "we must make some reflections".

One can think of "reducing them to micro-management" or it is necessary, and this is the line of Confindustria, "to keep management at a national level".

The example is the Mont Blanc tunnel: "Who should take care of it? Is it a theme of the Val d'Aosta is it an Italian theme? We have to do some reflection";

"When we thought about the 23 subjects it was 22 years ago, the world has transformed. With a lot of intellectual honesty, I believe that we can make some reflections on how the subjects can be divided".

THE GOVERNMENT'S REPLY

The reply from the Minister for Regional Affairs and Autonomies,

Roberto Calderoli

, arrives shortly .

"We have already started a discussion with Confindustria and intend to continue this dialogue.

Nobody wants to break anything

: it is clear that every level of government represents a bureaucratic obstacle and with the elimination of some of these bureaucratic trappings I believe that the first to the business world can take advantage of it", highlighted the minister.

And on the possible cost of the reform, with respect to the various hypotheses, he says: "Extraction of lottery numbers";

"I believe that throwing out figures that no one has ever been able to estimate is something that creates disinformation".

The Deputy Prime Minister and Infrastructure and Transport Minister Matteo Salvini

also spoke on the issue of autonomy

: "If the Council of Ministers approves on February 2, as I hope, the autonomy reform will be an advantage for all of Italy and not just for the North".

The restoration of the provinces with full powers is an objective that will be pursued hand in hand with autonomy, adds Salvini: "

Autonomy means giving more powers to the territories

, rewarding efficiency, cutting waste and bureaucracy, and in this perspective reintroduce the Provinces with full dignity".

PROSPECTS ACCORDING TO INDUSTRIALS

"The data tell us that 2023 will not be so gloomy, on the contrary", had also said the president of Confindustria, Carlo Bonomi.

"

We are doing better than our competitors

. France and Germany are lagging behind, we are gaining market shares", and for the second half of the year "we expect declining inflation and a robust recovery in international trade".

But for a full recovery, he warned, "two conditions are needed: that inflation does not flare up again, and that

the Government does not make mistakes in industrial policy interventions

. Fundamental conditions for industry to continue to run the country", both recognized as a "strategic asset".

On the Mes, he added, "if we believe that the new regulation is not of interest to the country or that it is not structured for the new current challenges, I think it is time to seriously discuss how to use a ready-made tool, to make it a policy tool European industrialist. This should be the discussion on the Mes. And if President Meloni wants to build this instrument with Confindustria, we

are here".

According to Confindustria, "today the time has come for a united Europe, Italy must navigate in the right direction and our task is to push Italy along that route, always".
