Bonus program provider Payback is looking for a new provider after the separation from Rewe.
That now brings the discounter giant Aldi into play.
Hamm - Payback and Rewe go their separate ways at the turn of the year 2024/25.
On December 31, 2024, at the checkout in the supermarket, you will be asked for the last time whether you have a Payback card with you.
As a spokeswoman for the retail and tourism group Rewe confirmed to wa.de, the group wanted to “go different and/or its own ways”.
This brings a discounter into play.
Payback at Aldi: Bonus program at the discounter under discussion
After the end of the cooperation with Rewe, the bonus program provider Payback is looking for a new customer.
As
Wirtschaftswoche
reports, Aldi Nord and Aldi Süd are being considered as possible successors.
There is currently no confirmation from Aldi and Payback.
However, a cooperation would make sense, as wa.de reports.
Because: retailers like Lidl and Kaufland already have their own bonus program for customers.
Aldi Nord and Aldi Süd, whose branches will offer customers a wider range of products in 2023, have not yet.
Edeka, on the other hand, is already using the DeutschlandCard, while smaller retailers have already found other solutions.
Is Payback coming to Aldi?
Bonus program provider is looking for a new customer
The future will show to what extent a cooperation between Payback and Aldi could come about.
Especially since the change would be completed in two years anyway.
Until then, Payback wants to continue working with Rewe “with full commitment”, as a spokesman for
Lebensmittel Zeitung
said.
Payback would not disappear completely from Germany if it did not work with the cooperation with Aldi.
The bonus program provider is also available to customers outside of the grocery store.
Payback works with Burger King, Aral, Decathlon and the drugstore DM, among others.
