A chain specializing in the sale of fabrics has to file for bankruptcy after 21 years.
The first shops have already had to close.
Dortmund – Again a company has to file for bankruptcy.
The wave of bankruptcies does not seem to stop at any industry.
After a shopping center in North Rhine-Westphalia and a bank, it is now a fabric dealer.
The first branches have already been closed.
More and more companies are insolvent – the causes are corona, inflation and rising prices
According to the Federal Statistical Office, the German district courts reported 10,643 corporate insolvencies from January to September 2022 alone.
And more were added by the end of the year.
In December 2022, bankruptcy filings had increased by 3.1 percent compared to November 2022.
In November 2022, the number had increased by 1.2 percent compared to October 2022.
Exact figures have not yet been determined, as they will only be included in the statistics once the final decision of the insolvency court has been made (more service news at RUHR24).
The “trend” seems to continue in 2023.
The "Stoff-Ideas" chain also had to file for bankruptcy, reports RUHR24.
The company, which belongs to Hemmers-Itex Textil Import Export GmbH, made further losses last year and was no longer sustainable in the end.
It was only founded in 2002.
The company "Stoff-Ideen" is insolvent - these are the reasons
The concept of the "Stoff-Ideen" chain is something special.
In addition to a large selection of fabrics, haberdashery and sewing machines, you could also take part in sewing courses and workshops in the branches.
The company therefore benefited from on-site sales for a long time, there was no online shop.
Possibly a reason for bankruptcy?
The reasons are complex, explains the social media coordinator Marina Faullant to
inFranken
.
The Corona crisis brought the first challenges, but they were still overcome.
Inflation, increased costs and the war would have finished off the troubled chain.

Fabric retailer files for bankruptcy – and has to close branches across Germany
The first shops in the 17 branches in Germany have been closed since Monday (January 23).
There was a clearance sale there before.
According to Faullant, this also went very well.
The remaining fabrics will now be offered in the branches that are still open.
Here is an overview of all 17 “Stoff-Ideen” branches in Germany:
Bamberg (already closed)
Berlin (closed since January 24)
Bingen (closed since January 1st)
The castle
Hanover
Heidelberg (already closed)
Heilbronn (already closed)
Karlsruhe (closed since January 1st)
Koblenz
Langenhagen
Leipzig
Nuremberg (already closed)
Sindelfingen (closed since January 24)
Stuttgart (closed since December 21)
trier
Wiesbaden
Worms
Nine branches have already closed between December 2022 and January 2023, the remaining eight are still open.
But: "In February there will be another one and in March two more will close," says Faullant.
She does not want to reveal which branches it will hit.
She just hopes that in the end not all shops will have to close.
However, the company is currently still “in the middle of insolvency proceedings”.
It is still unclear how or when the rest of the stores will continue.
