(ANSA) - BAKU, JAN 27 - One person died and two others were injured in an attack by armed men this morning on the Azerbaijani embassy in Iran, Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
"On January 27... there was an armed attack on the Azeri embassy in Iran. A man armed with a Kalashnikov killed the head of the diplomatic mission's guard," the statement reads.
Two other embassy guards were injured.
An investigation has been launched, the ministry continues without providing further details.
Iran, home to millions of Azeris, has long accused its neighbor of fomenting separatist sentiment on its territory.
