The success of
Voyage dans la Lune
, in 1875, allowed Offenbach to relaunch after an eclipse.
He appropriated the genre of fairy tales, fashionable in those early years of the Republic, enriching his own fantasy with spectacular machinery fed by Jules Verne.
Since forgotten, this endearing work has regained the honors of the stage with no less than two productions, both victims of the closure of theaters due to the pandemic: the show by Olivier Fredj designed for the tour of the Center français de promotion lyrique, and that of Laurent Pelly at the Salle Favart.
The first produced a quality CD directed by Pierre Dumoussaud (Palazzetto Bru Zane).
The second has finally just passed the full house test, and it's a party.

For the authenticity of the libretto and the score, we will rather go to the other show, because that of the Opéra Comique is an adaptation.
