Saving the Combustor? E-fuels in the starting blocks – the price is still a problem

In the course of the debate about renewable energies, a Berlin start-up is launching a fuel without fossil components.

The price of the e-fuel alone is shocking.

Berlin – Fuel for the car without fossil components and also as CO2-neutral as possible or at least very low in CO2.

The Berlin start-up P1 Performance Fuels has succeeded in what sounds like an unfulfilled dream for consumers and fans of renewable energies.

As Die Welt reports, the fuel or e-fuels should emit up to 90 percent less CO2.

Renewable energies: E-fuels in the starting blocks - up to 90 percent less CO2 emissions

The even better news: The e-fuel from P1 Performance Fuels is already available, at a gas station in the capital, in Berlin.

As stated in the Welt report, the e-fuel should be able to be used as renewable energy for up to 1.6 billion classic combustion engines worldwide.

As a result, P1 Performance Fuels in Berlin is already calling itself the “green solution” in the industry, as reported by

The good thing about the fuel: It should be able to be produced entirely without crude oil, but still have the same properties as conventional petrol.

Another piece of good news: The fuel has already proven itself extensively and is used in motor sports, among other things, writes Die Welt in its report.

And there will soon be a gas station in Berlin that will stock the fuel.

Saving the combustion engine: e-fuels in the starting blocks – up to 100 percent non-fossil fuel

"This is the first time that a 100 percent non-fossil fuel is accessible to consumers," Die

Welt

quoted Martin Popilka, Managing Director at P1 Performance Fuels in Berlin.

In his eyes, there are many people, especially in Germany, who want to switch to e-fuels in the wake of climate change and the switch to renewable energies.

The practical thing about the fuel is that motorists who will still be driving a combustion engine in the 2030s can also participate in the energy transition.

According to Jens Nietzschmann, Managing Director of Deutsche Automobil Treuhand GmbH (DAT), these must also be able to make a contribution to reducing CO2 emissions: "Social acceptance of individual mobility also depends on the positive solution to this question of combustion engines off.

We have to protect these customers from becoming the fair game of environmental exclusion.” According to his estimates, around 30 million cars with combustion engines will still be on the road in Germany in 2030.

Renewable energies: e-fuels in the starting blocks – a liter still costs 5 to 6 euros

But with all the good news, there is of course a catch to the whole thing about e-fuels and renewable energies: and that is the price.

On the one hand, it is still very high because the fuel is not being produced in the appropriate quantities.

E-Fuels from P1 Performance Fuels is currently available for 5 to 6 euros.

If the state were to waive all taxes on it, a price of around 3.50 euros per liter would be feasible.

If more of the e-fuels are produced, the price could go down even further.
