Whether it's "Dry January" or "Veganuary" or just the New Year's resolutions.

In the month of January, many people focus on health and the body.

Just live healthier, drink less alcohol, eat less junk food - and ideally lose weight and belly fat.

But if you want to lose weight, you can't just do it with more exercise.

Of course, sufficient exercise contributes to a better feel-good weight and increases our daily basal metabolic rate.

However, a healthy diet is the most important factor if you want to lose weight effectively and in the long term.

Not only the meals play an important role.

Because with the right drinks, the metabolism can be boosted.

Our editors went in search of the three best weight loss drinks.

It's not just about what you drink, but also when.

This class will help you lose weight

Table of contents

  • The "Three Seed Tea"

  • Mild spice lassi

  • Warm lemon water in the morning

  • Did you know: Warm water stimulates the metabolism

Nutrition experts agree: warm water stimulates digestion and boosts metabolism.

As a result, the body uses even more energy, which helps with weight loss.

However, warm water also has other positive side effects: The warm water dilates the blood vessels.

This allows the blood to flow better through the muscles and tissues.

The fat deposits are also broken down more easily.

    Tip from Ayurveda doctor Dr.

Ulrich Bauhofer: Drink a glass of hot water every hour!

However, if hot water is too boring for you and you are more interested in delicious weight loss drinks, you should read on now.

    The "Three Seed Tea"

This spicy, aromatic and Ayurvedic tea consists of the seeds of fennel, coriander and cumin.

And this is how easy it is to prepare the “Three Seed Tea”:

  • Mix the seeds in a jar in a ratio you like.

Either all three in equal parts, or if you have a sensitive stomach, for example, then more fennel.

    Stock up.

  • Put 1 tablespoon of the mixed seeds in a tea strainer or tea bag and brew in a pot with 1 liter of water.

  • Fennel, coriander and cumin combine the health benefits of spices.

The "Three Seeds Tea" counteracts cravings, reduces flatulence and feelings of fullness.

In addition, the metabolism and urination are stimulated.

The tea also has a detoxifying effect on the gastrointestinal tract.

Another advantage: the low-calorie tea does not drive up the insulin level and is therefore ideally suited as a weight-loss drink during the "not eating phase" of intermittent fasting.

But what makes fennel, coriander and cumin so special?

What does fennel do in the body?

The benefits of fennel have been known for thousands of years and are also used in Ayurveda.

Here, fennel seeds are chewed right after a meal to stimulate digestion.

    Bloating is also reduced.

A positive side effect: the sweet-tasting seeds ensure fresh breath.

What are the benefits of cilantro for our health?

Coriander is said to have draining properties.

The spice stimulates digestion, relieves flatulence and a bloated stomach.

Ayurvedic medicine also attaches great importance to the effect of coriander, as it has a positive effect on the Pitta metabolism principle and can therefore also alleviate skin rashes and acne.

    Why is cumin good?

Cumin is one of the most popular spices in Ayurvedic cuisine.

Because cumin is said to help strengthen the liver and thus detoxify the body.

Digestion is also stimulated by cumin.

For this reason, Ayurvedic physicians also use the spice for flatulence, a feeling of fullness and intestinal problems.

    Mild spice lassi

Lassi is a very digestible yoghurt drink.

Have a warm spiced lassi about ten minutes before you eat.

    Why?

    The spices stimulate digestion.

In addition, the saturation process begins earlier.

Because this lasts around 20 minutes, only after this time does saturation occur.

By drinking the slimming drink, the feeling of satiety begins during the meal.

    So don't overeat.

  • Mix 1/3 yoghurt (vegans also coconut, cashew, almond or soy yoghurt) with 2/3 water.

Important, the water should be slightly warm (not hot).

  • Add pepper & salt, and a pinch each of coriander, cumin (cumin) and garam masala powder.

You can mix the lassi in a blender, but you can also shake it well in a screw-top jar or – if it has to be done really quickly – just stir it well.

  • Warm lemon water in the morning

Lemon water in the morning works wonders and ensures a fresh start to the day.

Our recommendation: Drink half a liter of lemon water in the morning and replace breakfast with it.

Squeeze half a lemon into the very warm water and add honey (agave syrup or coconut blossom syrup as a vegetarian alternative) to taste.

Warm lemon water with honey - avoid this mistake

Under no circumstances should you boil the water and add lemon and honey directly!

With this mistake, the minerals in the lemon are destroyed and the honey loses its potency.

An old Ayurvedic wisdom even says that nectar becomes poison when honey is heated.

    So what to do?

First let the water cool down so that it is drinkable.

Why is lemon water with honey so good for the body?

Admittedly, the yellow fruit is very acidic, but rich in many nutrients.

Lemons contain a lot of potassium, magnesium, calcium, sodium, vitamin C and also beta-carotene, which is very important for the eyes, for example.

In Ayurveda, honey has been known as one of the most valuable foods for thousands of years.

The natural sweetener contains over 240 natural substances, including vitamins, amino acids, enzymes and minerals.

Honey is sugar, but it's a complex, long-chain sugar, so it's much healthier than industrial sugar.

The combination of warm water, lemon and honey is unique as all three ingredients boost metabolism.

This gives you a boost for fat burning in the morning.
