An error in a moderation on Holocaust Remembrance Day brought malice and ridicule to news anchor Franca Lehfeldt.
Lehfeldt said on the television station "Welt": "78 years ago today, the Red Army Faction liberated the survivors of the German concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz." A video of the scene quickly spread online.
On January 27, 1945, USSR soldiers reached Auschwitz during World War II and liberated the survivors from the concentration camp and industrial complex built by the Germans.
The Red Army Faction, on the other hand, was a left-wing extremist terrorist organization founded in 1970.
Franca Lehfeldt is chief reporter at the television station »Welt«.
In 2018, her relationship with the FDP national chairman Christian Lindner became public.
The couple married on Sylt last year.
