(ANSA) - PALERMO, JAN 28 - "I heard rumors that started immediately after the news of Messina Denaro's arrest. There wasn't even time to thank the police forces who already felt shadows on the investigative activity carried out.
Everyone can make whatever comments you like, but speculation must stop at the facts".
This was stated by the prosecutor of Palermo Maurizio de Lucia, who coordinated the investigation into the arrest of the boss, speaking at the inauguration of the judicial year.
"Let's do the trials and then people will be able to judge what happened on January 16, when an historic result was achieved, a success that the state has a duty to claim without conspiracy and speculation", he added.
"My office - underlined de Lucia - will continue to use only the method of researching the facts. Our job is to ascertain the crimes, identify those responsible and have them sentenced to a just penalty. This is our task, written in the Constitution, and we that's all that matters."
