The events of the past weekend in Jerusalem take us back to the previous rounds of escalation - but unlike the last rounds, during which many customers fearing for their safety asked not to allow Palestinian workers with work permits into their homes - this time, according to the Association of Renovation Contractors, there were also many demands to cancel the arrival of workers from the Arab sector, who hold in an Israeli identity card.

The Renovation Contractors Association reports that hundreds of calls and messages were made to the renovation contractors and the association's hotline last weekend, with requests to change teams, and even postpone the renovation work until the security situation calms down.

Eran Siev, chairman of the Renovation Contractors Association,

warns that this could cause a delay in existing work, and in the delivery of apartments that would lead to heavy economic damages for the contractors and customers, and adds that: "If in the past, in times of security crisis, we would have received calls from customers regarding their concern about bringing in Palestinian workers with a permit work to their homes, this time also asking that workers from the sector with Israeli citizenship not come.

This is a step up that we haven't experienced in a long time and we have to remember that for the renovation contractors it is an almost impossible task to find replacement workers at such a short notice."
