Tom Wehrlein, vocalist and guitarist of the American punk band Television, which is considered one of the most influential in the punk scene and was established in the 70s, passed away at the age of 73 - this is what Jessie Ferris Smith, daughter of rock icon Patti Smith, said yesterday (Saturday). Verlaine collaborated with her musically and even had a romantic relationship with her in the past.
"Love you forever, thank you for leading the way," she wrote.
Verlein passed away after a battle with the disease.
Tom Wehrlein was born in New Jersey in the USA. In the early 1970s he founded the band Neon Boys, which included Wehrlein on guitar and vocals. A year later they changed their name to Television. In 1975 they released their first single.

Verlaine, as mentioned, is considered by many to be one of the most important creators in the history of the punk genre, and had a great influence on the post-punk and indie rock music of the 80s (among them bands like Suzy and the Banshees and the Cocteau Twins).
Television became one of the leading bands in the New York punk scene of the 1970s, despite never having the commercial success that the musicians who were influenced by it had.
Many alternative music lovers and rock music experts credit Marky Moon, Television's first album, with the influence on alternative music of the 80s and 90s.
