Graphic nudity scenes, brutal killings and severe promiscuity: the film that shocked the Sundance Film Festival | Israel today

The new horror and science fiction film Infinity Pool, recently at the prestigious American festival, received particularly shocked reactions and is considered one of the most delusional productions in 2023 • It was even censored for fear of cinemas refusing to screen it • Will it also be shown in Israel?

Although 2023 has barely begun, it can probably be determined already that "Infinity Pool" is the most controversial, creepy, disturbed, and some would say repulsive film of the year, at least that's what news sites such as Toronto Star, Financial Times and Magazine claim and describe Vogue.

• After 7 years: HBO in a happy surprise for "True Blood" fans

• Alexander Skarsgård shows a hot body and reveals: "Because I'm sexy I didn't get serious roles"

Filmed in Hungary and Croatia, the Canadian-Croatian-Hungarian horror production is a sci-fi horror film from the creator of Brandon Cronenberg (son of acclaimed Canadian director David Cronenberg), dealing with hedonistic couples (Alexander Skarsgård of the cult HBO series True Blood and star of the horror Mia Goth), who go on vacation at a debauched resort for the rich only in an imaginary third world country.

Things get out of control when the two leave the confines of their resort and become involved in a crime that carries a death sentence, as this country has no tolerance for criminals.

Or actually, maybe there is: wealthy enough people can clone themselves, and essentially see their clones executed in their place.

The twist (or rather just one of the twists): those duplicates carry exactly the same memories and emotions of the original people, so how exactly do you know who gets executed and who stays alive?

Add to that particularly graphic scenes of complete nudity (and not in an artistic section - far from it, critics claim), particularly promiscuous sexual behavior, orgies, drug use, brutal killing of innocents and other things that are difficult to put into writing, and you will understand why the "Infinity Pool" put You are at the Sundance Film Festival for Total Market, after it premiered there last week.

In fact, the version of the film screened at the prestigious American film festival was so blatant and sickening, as the news sites abroad describe (with the rare and highest NC-17 viewing restriction), that it was decided to censor it and cut some extreme scenes from it especially for its commercial screening in the US , for the simple reason that many cinemas will refuse to screen the film.

The "Infinity Pool" is expected to hit the screens in Europe during the month of March.

It is not yet known if the film will also be screened in Israel.
