Gentiloni, the EU will not have to face the recession

(ANSA) - BERLIN, JAN 30 - The EU will have to face the challenge of very limited growth but it is not close to recession.

   This was stated by commissioner Paolo Gentiloni, in Berlin, alongside the German finance minister Christian Lindner.

   Gentiloni underlined how this is also due to the "national and common political decisions that have been taken".

   "I will present our estimates in 8-9 days," he said, "but what is already clear" is that the "inevitability of recession, blackouts and stagflation" scenario will not materialize.

   "We will have many challenges but not of this type. The challenge will be that of very limited growth that we must support together".
