US actress Annie Wersching is dead. She died in Los Angeles on Sunday morning, her spokeswoman for the AP news agency said.
Accordingly, Wersching suffered from cancer.
Details on what type of cancer it was were not released.
Wersching was 45 years old.
Wersching was born in 1977 in St. Louis, Missouri, where she grew up.
She has appeared in dozens of TV series.
At the beginning of her career she played in »Star Trek: Enterprise«, »Boston Legal« or »Supernatural«.
She later took on the role of Amelia Joffe on General Hospital and, from 2009, starred as FBI agent Renee Walker on the seventh and eighth seasons of the popular series 24.
Appearances in the series »Bosch«, »The Vampire Diaries«, »Runaways« and »The Rookie« followed.
Wersching recently starred as the Borg Queen in the second season of Star Trek: Picard.
She also lent her voice and facial features to the character Theresa "Tess" Servopoulos in the popular video game The Last of Us.
"We have just lost a wonderful artist and human being," wrote The Last of Us creator Neil Druckmann on Twitter.
In another message, he explained, "I miss my goofy friend who helped bring Tess to life.
Annie, you left us way too soon.”
Druckmann also referred to a fundraising campaign for Wersching's husband, the actor Stephen Full, and the couple's three sons.
Almost $100,000 was raised within a few hours.
The fundraiser was initiated by actress Ever Carradine (»Runaways«, »The Handmaid's Tale«).
"We lost a sunshine today," she wrote on Twitter.
And addressed to Wersching: "I love you."
Actress Abigail Spencer worked with Wersching on the set of the series »Timeless«.
She now wrote: »We love you, Annie Wersching.
You will be greatly missed."
