Maria Mesi, former lover of the boss Matteo Messina Denaro, and Francesco Mesi, the brothers already convicted in the early 2000s for aiding and abetting the boss Matteo Messina Denaro, would be again registered in the register of suspects on charges of having favored the mafia boss's fugitive arrested on January 16th.
Today, the Carabinieri del Ros searched their homes in Aspra, in the Palermo area, a country house and the roastery run by the Mesi family.
The investigators allegedly seized the cell phones and PCs of the two brothers.
Both have been investigated in the past for having favored the fugitive of the mafia boss.
Francesco Mesi negotiated the sentence.
The woman was arrested on June 14, 2000. Two other people ended up in prison with her accused of being the holders of the rental contract of an apartment where Messina Denaro was hiding in Aspra, in the Palermo area.
Maria Mesi was sentenced in the first and second degree for aggravated aiding and abetting the mafia.
The Cassation canceled the aggravating circumstance arguing that her sentimental relationship with the boss excluded the facilitation of Cosa Nostra.
Investigators found several love letters that the mafia boss and the woman had exchanged.
