During the night between 28 and 29 January, the Tunisian Coast Guard rescued 24 sub-Saharan migrants aboard a boat that sank in the stretch of sea off the coast of Louata, in the governorate of Sfax.
This was announced by the spokesman of the National Guard of Tunis in a note, specifying that 13 migrants are still missing and are continuing their searches.
According to the same source, the people rescued said they were from various sub-Saharan countries.
During the same night, the Tunisian Coast Guard blocked three irregular migration operations starting from the coasts of the Kerkennah and Mahdia islands, rescuing a total of 119 people aboard boats in distress at sea.
All the intercepted migrants are from various sub-Saharan countries and have been reported to the judiciary.
