On Sunday, a man was found dead in a garbage compactor in Norderstedt in the Segeberg district.
His wife had reported the 69-year-old missing shortly before.
A day after the body was found, the background is still unclear.
However, everything points to an accident, said a police spokesman on Monday.
There are currently no indications of third-party debt.
The dead man had worked in the supermarket.
Employees discovered the missing person
The 69-year-old had not come home from work on Saturday evening.
She called the police when she discovered her husband's car in the supermarket parking lot on Sunday, the wife said, according to the police.
At around 1:30 p.m., a market employee finally discovered the missing person in the garbage compactor.
He could only be recovered dead.
It is not yet clear how the man got into the trash compactor.
The investigations of the criminal police are ongoing.
Editor's note: In an earlier version, Norderstedt was located in the district of Stormarn, but the town is in the district of Segeberg. We have changed the position.
