A "one-stop shop in proximity" to take advantage of public administration services in almost 7,000 post offices in municipalities with fewer than 15,000 inhabitants and a network of 250 coworking spaces throughout the country.

This is what is foreseen by Poste Italiane's "Project Polis", born with the aim of promoting economic, social and territorial cohesion in small urban centers and in internal areas of Italy.

The initiative was presented this morning with an event at the La Nuvola Congress Center in Rome, with the participation of the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella, the Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, national and religious institutions and mayors of small municipalities.

The project is financed with resources from the complementary plan to the Pnrr for 800 million euros and approximately 400 million from Poste Italiane,

In the nearly 7,000 offices involved, Poste Italiane will create a "Polis Office": a one-stop shop that will give citizens the opportunity to use public administration services through a single access point thanks to Poste Italiane's multi-channel platform.

At present, work has been completed in 40 post offices and has been started in another 230. They will rise to 1,500 by the end of the year.

7,000 Postamat ATMs, 4,000 stations for the provision of self-service public services (Totems), 500 lockers for the delivery of parcels and other goods, active 24 hours a day, will be installed in the offices. 5,000 charging stations for vehicles will also be built electricity, a thousand photovoltaic systems, smart building systems and environmental monitoring sensors.

And then a thousand outdoor spaces equipped to host cultural, health and well-being initiatives.

The goal is to reduce the digital divide, assisting and supporting citizens, especially those less accustomed to interfacing with digital, in accessing new tools.

Among the services that can be used in the "Polis offices": request for an electronic identity card, passport, civil status and personal data certificates, self-declarations of loss, declaration of possession and transport of weapons, request for a new code issue account statement, debit positions, cadastral plan survey, Rai fee exemption, proxies for fragile subjects, judicial certificates, Isee, contribution statement, Orbis model for pensioners, single certification, boat license issue,

complaint and request for duplicate driving licence.

The "Polis Offices" will be restructured with an innovative layout and equipped with a cutting-edge technological and digital infrastructure.

The project also includes the creation of a coworking network made up of 250 sites - "Spazi per l'Italia" - with over 10,000 workstations and meeting rooms, shared services, areas dedicated to events and training for professionals, businesses, associations and individual citizens.

Among these, 80 coworking spaces will be created in Municipalities with less than 15,000 inhabitants.

The network will be created through the transformation of office buildings and large post offices distributed throughout the area.

The first 37 will be open by the end of 2023. The "Spazi per l'Italia" will form a national network: all offices will be interconnected, connected to ultra-broadband and equipped with widespread high computing capacity.

The use will be public and the service model will be regulated in each territorial area,

remunerating Poste Italiane only for out-of-pocket costs incurred.

There are also service agreements between Poste Italiane, national and local public administrations, business associations, universities and research centres.

In this way, Poste will become the first operator in Italy in coworking.

In Italy, 90% of the municipalities have fewer than 15,000 inhabitants, a surface area equal to 80% of the country.

16 million Italians live in these areas.

In recent years these territories have undergone a progressive depopulation: without dedicated interventions they are destined to impoverishment and inevitable social fraying.

This project, explained the president of Poste Italiane Maria Bianca Farina, confirms how "the future of the company is at the service of Italy and all Italians".
