Baking soda cleans the oven quickly and naturally.

For stubborn incrustations in the oven, many use oven spray.

But there is a catch: the next time you bake, the chemical smell settles on cakes, fries and the like.

Apart from that, chemical cleaners harm the environment.

With a natural home remedy like baking soda, you play it safe when cleaning.

What is baking soda?

Baking soda (not to be confused with washing soda or plain soda) is also known as baking soda.

The white powder is available in every supermarket in the baking department or in drugstores with the cleaning products.

Good to know: When cleaning, baking soda can be replaced 1:1 with baking soda, since soda is also contained in baking soda.

However, this does not apply to baking: In addition to baking soda, baking powder also contains an acid and starch content.

If you want to use baking soda as the sole raising agent for muffins or similar, you need another acidic ingredient, such as yoghurt or sour cream, so that the dough rises.

Clean the oven with baking soda and salt

Baking soda is a versatile household remedy that is excellent for cleaning the oven.

All you need is baking soda, salt and water:

  • Mix 2 tablespoons of baking soda with 1 tablespoon of salt and 2 tablespoons of water.

    This creates a creamy paste.

  • Now spread the paste over the burnt-in areas with a brush or sponge.

Make sure that the paste does not come into contact with exposed heating elements in order not to damage them.

  • Leave everything on for about 20 to 30 minutes.

The oven door should be closed so that the paste does not dry out.

  • Then wipe the oven with a damp microfiber cloth or sponge - done!

Clean the oven with baking soda and vinegar

Baking soda and vinegar are said to work wonders for heavy encrustations in the oven.

    • Mix about 50 g baking soda with 30 ml vinegar.

    • Spread the mixture on the soiled areas in the oven.

Please make sure that nothing gets on the heating rods.

    • Set the oven to a baking temperature of 75 degrees and let it work for 30 to 45 minutes.

    • After the oven has cooled down, wipe it with a damp cloth.

If there are still burnt-in residues, repeat the procedure again.

Lemon juice can also make the oven shine in no time.
